I have way too much to say, but I'm just gonna bust this out.

So last Wednesday I flew out to Princeton for the Princeton Preview!
Ok so honestly, I was expecting a bunch of super nerds in suits and polos but (although there were a few of those) almost everyone was super warm and friendly! I think the whole white elitist stereotype is just something that has been "perpetuated by F. Scott Fitzgerald's work who describes it as such" (according to father Soffer). Actually most of the people I talked to were a) not white and b) offered really good financial aid so not elite I guess? I did meet an overwhelming amount of people who wanted to be engineers (and therefore talked about math equations... no lies) but I also met some super cool engineers, music people, english people -- really every kind of person you could think of.

While I was there I did sooo many things! I cannot even begin to describe them all but here are some highlights-
1. Blackbox!! Oh my goodness. So much fun. I danced for like 4 hours straight (and I was not intoxicated) in a dining hall that was converted to a club. It was insane! I went in wearing a jacket, a sweater, a long sleeve and an undershirt. An hour into it I was only wearing my undershirt because it so SO HOT in that room. I danced for a looonggg time and then, at 3 in the morning, I passed out on the floor of the Rocky dorm I was staying in (sidenote: I slept on the floor for the two nights I was there, but it was totally fine because by the time I went to sleep I was so incredibly exhausted).
2. Museum. Holy lord the museum at Princeton is beyond perfect. They have such an incredible collection! They have paintings by Monet, Manet, Van Gogh, Cezanne, Sargent and so many more amazing artists. I was truly blown away (and all that was only on one floor of the 3 story museum).

I know, right?

3. BAC - Beast Mode. This sounds scary but it was actually an awesome hip-hop show by a dance group on campus. The choreography was so good and so clever!
4. Arch Sings. So I love a cappella. Like a lot. Every single one of the groups that sang at the arch sing (a performance under one of the beautiful arches on campus... sorta self explanatory) was incredible. I cannot wait to join an a cappella group next year!!

5. Cornell West and Radhanath Swami talk discussion thing. Dr. Cornel West (Class of 1943 Professor at Princeton and author/speaker) and His Holiness Radhanath Swami (Bhakti Yoga master, director of the Radha-Gopinath Ashram, and author/speaker) spoke about spirituality, religion, love, you know the cool stuff. Anyways it was really incredible. Maybe one of the most inspirational talks I've ever been to? but I'm not gonna label it. So now I have to work on feeding the good dog and stopping moral constipation. No jokes. Oh and I hugged Cornell West. He is so cool.

6. Quipfire! A really funny clever improv group that I almost forgot to mention!

Ok I need to move on, but basically I had an awesome time.
(The only thing that concerns me is grade deflation. Oh and the fact that everyone I met was a freaking genius. Like shit man.)

Saturday I took a train to the Big Apple to see Columbia. Ok this is gonna be a short section because I really didn't like Columbia. Its a great school, so I'm not gonna bash it, but it just didn't feel right. The people were not as interesting or as friendly (although I met some really great nice people!) and none of the students were enthusiastic about Columbia! When I asked how they liked it they were all like "yeah its good." And when I asked about the Core Curriculum (which I hate, jsuk) the people literally said "Its not as bad as I thought it would be." Yeah, great response.

Sunday I crossed the street to Barnard, which I loved!

The girls there were all so nice and my host was so chill. The introduction speech they gave at the beginning was amazing. They didn't have many cool things organized, but everyone there loves it and the people I hung out with were really fun! Sunday night me and like 25 other girls all went to dinner (part of the Barnard thing) at this super fun cuban restaurant where they had live music, so that was awesome! And then we went back to campus for a comedy/a cappella show, which was fun but not as good as the one at Princeton.

New York in general is awesome. I love love love the village and we didn't have a lot of time in the city, but if I go to school on the east coast (which I'm 99% sure I will be doing) I will be there a lot. We also ate at this tiny hole in the wall restaurant, but I think I had the best meal I've had in the past few months there, so props.

Ok. I think I'm done... for now!
